According to Yu Enlin, director of the Department of Political Research of the China Chlor-Alkali Industry Association, the clean production of the chlor-alkali industry in China has achieved remarkable results in recent years. Energy consumption and water consumption per unit of caustic soda and PVC have declined to varying degrees, and COD reduction in wastewater has also been achieved. Good results. The wastewater discharge of the AC foaming agent industry has always been the focus of attention in the chlor-alkali industry. The industry's ammonia-nitrogen wastewater discharge accounts for 17% of the entire petrochemical industry, showing the characteristics of small industries, large emissions, and difficult governance. Due to the development of the ketene-nitrogen method and the new technology without acid condensation, the ammonia nitrogen wastewater from the AC foaming agent industry has been greatly improved, and the ammonia nitrogen wastewater reduction can reach over 30%. “The proportion of clean production advanced enterprises in the chlor-alkali industry has increased to 30%, which has met the industry's expected emission reduction targets,” said Yan Enlin.

According to Yu Enlin, the chlor-alkali association cooperated with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the Ministry of Environmental Protection to formulate clean production standards for the chlor-alkali industry, guidelines for cleaner production audits in the chlor-alkali industry, and evaluation indicators for cleaner production in the chlor-alkali industry, instructing companies to improve their technical level and review compliance. According to relevant statistics, the clean production audit rate of chlor-alkali enterprises has reached 30%, which is higher than the overall level of 6% of industrial enterprises in the country.

Yu Enlin pointed out that the prevention and control of mercury pollution will be one of the focuses of the clean production work in the chlor-alkali industry.
