Premier Li Keqiang of the State Council co-chaired the third round of Sino-German government consultations with German Chancellor Angela Merkel at the Prime Minister's Office in Berlin on the afternoon of the 10th. The 26 ministers of the Chinese and German governments participated in the consultations. The two prime ministers listened to the report on the results of the consultations between the ministers in their respective fields and delivered separate speeches.
Prior to the consultation, Merkel held a grand welcoming ceremony for Li Keqiang in the square in front of the Prime Minister's Office.
After the consultations, the two prime ministers witnessed the signing of a number of intergovernmental cooperation documents and commercial contracts. During the visit, the two countries signed bilateral trade and mutual investment and technical cooperation agreements totaling 18.1 billion US dollars.
Sino-German relations are not simple trading relationships
Li Keqiang said that China and Germany are both countries with important influence in the world. This year, the two countries have established an all-round strategic partnership, and the strategic and long-term relationship of bilateral relations has been continuously enhanced. Sino-German relations are not a simple trading relationship, but a high-level cooperation and win-win relationship with broad prospects. The two countries formulated and published the "Sino-German Cooperation Action Program." China is willing to launch a strategic dialogue on diplomacy and security between the two countries and Germany, strengthen communication and coordination in international affairs, and jointly promote world peace and prosperity.
Continue to promote cooperation in manufacturing industries such as electric vehicles
Li Keqiang said that China is willing to deepen economic and trade cooperation and investment cooperation with Germany and strengthen technical cooperation. He hopes that Germany will export more high-tech products to China and provide convenience for Chinese enterprises to invest in Germany. The two sides should continue to promote cooperation in manufacturing industries such as electric vehicles and aerospace, promote industrial technology upgrading; strengthen macroeconomic policy coordination, give full play to the role of high-level financial dialogue mechanism between China and Germany, and promote the offshore business of RMB in Europe, hoping that Germany will resolve it as soon as possible. With regard to the strict supervision of Chinese banks in Germany, and taking the opportunity of building the “Silk Road Economic Beltâ€, strengthen infrastructure construction cooperation, fully tap the potential of China-EU international freight trains, broaden the land trade corridor, and close humanities exchanges. In 2016, it was determined to be the Sino-German Youth Exchange Year, promote visa reciprocity, and take more convenient measures to promote personnel exchanges between the two countries.
Li Keqiang said that China welcomes Germany's support for the China-EU investment agreement negotiations and hopes that Germany will support the launch of the China-EU free trade zone feasibility study and promote the EU's relaxation of high-tech products exports to China. The two sides should strengthen coordination and cooperation to jointly safeguard the openness of the world economy and promote global trade liberalization.
