As early as 2010, Xichai inherited the advantages of vermicular cast research and comprehensively promoted the industrialization of high-strength vermicular cast iron, and finally achieved fruitful results.
As we all know, the difficulty in the casting of vermicular iron is that the stable area of ​​the vermicular iron is too small, and the size and position of the platform in the stable area vary with the product. Magnesium as a vermicularizer needs to be controlled very precisely. In order to solve the problems, the Xichai Foundry Crafts team and Tin Cast have started close cooperation. In 2010, the project team relied on independent technology and adopted the explosive method to produce a creep cylinder head with a creep rate of 60-80% and a tensile strength of the main body test rod of ≥ 380 N/mm2, and a diesel engine with a pressure of 180 bar was passed. 2400 hours of endurance test. On this basis, in order to improve the performance and stability of materials, the project team also developed a vermicular iron material with a tensile strength ≥450N/mm2 and adapted to a higher detonation pressure diesel engine in 2012 with international cooperation. At the same time as the material research and development, the project team also started the research on the casting process of a new machine cylinder head using vermicular material, and solved the double water jacket structure problem. At present, the casting scrap rate has been controlled within a reasonable range, and the batch volume has been fully satisfied. Production requirements. In order to meet the low-cost requirements of some models, in 2014 the project team developed low pearlite vermicular iron materials with tensile strength ≥ 400N/mm2.
Cooperative development leads the industry
Due to the excellent mechanical properties of vermicular cast iron (CGI) and the large amount of desorption during the vermicularization process, the cutting load is increased by 20% to 30% compared to the gray cast iron in the graphite structure, and the cutting performance is drastically reduced. In the initial stage of trial production, in order to overcome a series of problems such as abnormal consumption of a wide range of tools for cylinder head machine tool addition and unstable accuracy, the Xichai project's craft team also established a research route for outreach, with Sandvik, Kennametal, Walter, Guhring, Mapal, etc. A group of world-renowned tool manufacturers have been working closely together. Through the combination of “special sample test + production line verification†in the laboratory, a comprehensive analysis and evaluation was made of the cutting performance, reference parameters, and machine tool fixtures of the vermicular iron materials, resulting in a relatively complete tool processing solution.
