A few days ago, the Norwegian shipyard Kleven and Rolls-Royce signed a design and equipment contract for a tail trawler ordered by Spain's Pesquera Ancora SLU.
The tail trawler will be designed with Rolls-Royce's NVC 374 WP and is scheduled to be delivered from the Kleven Myklebust shipyard in the first quarter of 2018. This is the fourth time that a ship built by Kleven has adopted the same design contract as Rolls-Royce.
It is reported that the tail trawler is 80 meters long and the hull is ICE 1A*. It will be equipped with a large number of Rollo equipment, including main engine, auxiliary machine, HSG propulsion system, automation equipment, winch and fuel-saving wave-through design. The main considerations in the ship design process and equipment matching are to improve operating efficiency, reduce emissions, improve crew comfort and safety, and excellent seaworthiness.
The tail trawler will be equipped with a shipyard for the production of fish fillets. The ship has a storage capacity of 1,400 cubic meters. There is also a packaging and freezer room with a space of 550 cubic meters on the deck.
Since the 1970s, Rolls-Royce has designed approximately 130 NVC-type fishing vessels for the fishing sector. Rolls-Royce's current design and equipment matching ship orders include 7 trawlers and 2 live fish carriers.
