Scientists at the Institute of Cybernetics of the Ukrainian National Academy of Sciences have developed a special device called “Флоратест” that allows the precise determination of the state of plants during photosynthesis.

The traditional way to determine the status of plants is to record and analyze the chlorophyll fluorescence in the green leaves, which requires some special laboratory conditions. The Флоратест device can be quickly diagnosed in seconds (operation mode and duration can be selected in a separate menu): Micro-sensors are attached to the leaves of the plants, and then the blades are illuminated within a certain band of light, using special intelligent programs The received information is processed and the results are sent to the display as a Kautsky curve, which is roughly similar to an electrocardiogram. Based on these data, the status of the plant at a specific time period can be reflected so that the user of the device makes a decision on how to care for the plant.

This rapid diagnostic device is very useful when dealing with weeds. If visually weeds and plants are appropriate, and the Kautsky curve shows that it has begun to wither, in this case, the weeds will die in a natural manner without the use of herbicides, thereby reducing the use of chemicals and reducing Human intervention and influence on the environment.

Two years ago, the equipment was tested at a German agricultural research institute for a long time and many test results received good feedback. At present, the device has been widely used in the domestic agricultural sector in Ukraine.
