Ding Hongxiang, chairman of China Imported Automobile Trading Co., Ltd., said that in the first half of the year, the number of licenses for imported vehicles with medium-to-low emissions below 3.0 liters increased by 112.3% year-on-year, which is the main force for the growth of the imported vehicle market, and large-displacement vehicles with 3.0 liters or more have also been sold. To get rid of the adverse effects of a sharp increase in the consumption tax in September 2008, the amount of licences in the first half of the year increased by 54.2% year-on-year.

In addition, the small and medium-displacement imported vehicles also accelerated, and the small-displacement BMW MINI brand hit a new high, with 4,469 units sold. In the six-month period, it exceeded the sales volume of last year. Ding Hongxiang also stated that the total number of imported vehicles on the market in 2010 will reach 560,000 vehicles, an increase of about 58%. At the same time, he also pointed out that the import volume of customs in the third quarter will still maintain a high level.
